ACCIÓN CONTRA EL HAMBRE, as part of the ACF International network, is an international non-governmental, private, apolitical, non confessional and non-profit organization created in 1979. Their vocation is to combat hunger, misery and dangerous situations that threaten men, women and children. Currently 500 expats and more than 5,000 employees are working in our International Network. Action Against Hunger is present in more than forty-six countries working in projects concerning four areas of focus: nutrition, health, food security and water and sanitation.

ACF-Spain is present in the Palestinian Territory since September 2002. ACF's mission mandate in the Palestinian Territories is to support the vulnerable population affected by the crisis. ACF aims to reinforce communities’ autonomy by improving their coping strategies and their access to basic services and a sustainable livelihood.

In many rural and isolated villages, ACF is supporting the provision of drinking water for the most vulnerable Palestinian households. Through the building of rainwater collection and storage systems and water treatment, access to safe water is re-established and the risk of water-related diseases and epidemics has been significantly reduced. ACF also rehabilitates and extends water networks. We repair pumping and booster stations and build reservoirs.

ACF-Spain is looking for a Water and Sanitation Coordinator for the Palestinian Territory to strengthen and develop ACF-Spain’s Water & Sanitation component in the Palestinian Territories at managerial, operational and strategic level.


Objective:

  • Strategy: Constantly assess the WS situation in PT, develops and updates the WS strategy, participates in the coordination forums (WASH Cluster, OCHA CAP, donor’s sector revues) and in the definition and preparation of ACF's Country Strategy 2011.
  • External Relations : Develops and maintains relationship with key WS stakeholders at a technical level, supplies data and other relevant inputs for any identified advocacy and communication in the WS sector.
  • Project Cycle Management: Identification, formulation, implementation and evaluation of all WS projects and activities.
  • Logistics and Administration: supervises the elaboration of an expenses forecast monitors the fortnightly expenses forecast submitted to the Admin Co with the WS Program Managers and/or Head of Base, follows up expenses of WS activitiesl, prepares detailed budget for WS activities.
  •  Human Resource Management: coordinates and follows up Activity Planning of all WS team members, participates in the recruitment and selection of WS staff, evaluates WS team members, prepares, reviews and adapts job descriptions of WS team members.
  • Security Management : leases with the Logistics Coordinator to ensure that security measures are adhered to by all the WS staff.
  • Other duties : coordinates and participates in the weekly Coordination Team meeting in Jerusalem

Profile:

  • Higher education in engineering (desirable) or similar
  •  Postgraduate studies in international Cooperation /Development (desirable),
  • Knowledge and experience in working in a modern urban WS environment , in WS project management or technical coordination (minimum 2 years), Project Cycle Management, Needs/Vulnerability Assessments
  • Strong networking and representational skills

  • Tactful and diplomatic
  • Strong security awareness
  • Adaptability and tolerance to stressful conditions
  • Desirable experience within ACFIN
  • English essential, Spanish, Arabic and Hebrew a plus

We offer immediate incorporation to a dynamic international network with the following remuneration package:


Remunerative Package:

  • House and maintenance cover by the organization.
  • Formal contract of work. Forecast duration: A minimum commitment of two years
  • Salary: from 1500 euros to 2350 euros gross per month according to candidate's previous experience + responsibility plus (according to standard list of ACF- Spain
  • ACF- Spain remuneration system allows a salary progression based on the annual development appraisal
  • Travel costs to and from the mission.
  • Per Diems.
  • 25 working days of holidays per year.
  • One week of breaks, (including travel cost to the reference zone, and 200 euros to pass the week of break).
  • Travel and accident insurance and repatriation on account of the organization.
  • Extra per month and per child (Under 18 years old)
